Four in 10 US Catholic nuns report having experienced sexual abuse... The study found that sisters have known sexual abuse less in childhood, dispelling what the authors call an "anti-Catholic" canard that girls fled to convents to escape sexual advances. During religious life, close to 30% of the nation's 85,000 nuns experienced "sexual trauma," ranging from rape to exploitation to harassment. The Presbyterian Church stated that 10-23% of clergy have "inappropriate sexual behavior or contact" with clergy and employees.

The United Methodist research (1990) showed 38.6% of Ministers had sexual contact with church members and that 77% of church workers experienced some type of sexual harassment.

The United Church of Christ found that 48% of the women in the work place have been sexually harassed by male clergy.

The Southern Baptists claim 14.1% of their clergy have sexually abused members.

Nuns abused

The Vatican yesterday acknowledged a report that some priests and missionaries were forcing nuns to have sex with them, and in some cases forcing their rape victims to have abortions.

Hundreds of Roman Catholic priests across the United States have died of AIDS-related illnesses, and hundreds more are living with HIV, the virus that causes the disease. It appears priests are dying of AIDS at a rate at least four times that of the general U.S. population.

As the Kansas City Star's coverage makes clear, the issue is troubling many denominations (not just the Catholic Church, though it is the only one imposing celibacy on all its clergy).
Because of Christianity's negative and repressive views on the matter, and the lack of support or even Church programs to educate priests about safe sex, many clergymen have ended up with AIDS:

The US, Europe, and anti-gay undertakings

The US

The US, under the born-again fundamentalist Christian Bush, is facing continuous blurring of the constitutional separation of state and Church, including:

Relentless Christian lobbying for creationism - "Intelligent Design" - to be taught in schools

Government grants are given to faith-based initiatives, during Hurricane Katrina, for instance:

Though Operation USA has conducted disaster relief for more than twenty-five years on five continents, like scores of other secular relief groups currently helping victims of Hurricane Katrina, it was omitted from FEMA's list. In fact, only two non-"faith-based" organizations were included. (One of them, the American Red Cross, is being blocked from entering New Orleans by FEMA's parent agency, the Department of Homeland Security.)

This means that the unfortunate victims of Katrina had to be "helped" by born-again missionaries looking for vulnerable people they can intimidate into joining the flock. In fact, the pious Bush has taken the opportunity that Katrina provided to push faith-based programs even further - to deal with future emergencies.

Now, the government is forging links with faith groups to operate emergency services, including the reconstruction of communities severely affected by Katrina's havoc. No sooner had Hurricane Katrina dissipated than the Bush White House began trying to capitalize on the haphazard response of government departments including the beleaguered Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).

Which makes it seem like Bush purposefully did not act on Katrina, just so he could justify more religious aid organisations in the future.

The UK and Europe

Since Europe has steadily become less religious, the Joshua Project (a global Evangelical project set up by Evangelical groups receiving faith-based grants from Bush) is planning to convert the traditional Christians and non-religious in the UK and Europe.

Evangelical denominations in the UK have already started taking over Anglican Churches and buying up those that are less-frequented. Fundamentalist Christianity is on the increase in the Church of England: Religion in England & the UK.

The Joshua Project has identified all "unsaved" populations in the world, put them into a database (available on-line), and has grouped them for "adoption" by evangelical missionaries. The goal: the adopted population is to be saved - lugubriously termed as "harvesting".

Yet, their targets are not restricted to such unfortunate victims of intended Christian colonisation/subjugation as remote cultural groups. For, among the unsaved souls up for salvific adoption, are to be found the Scotts and Welsh of Britain! There are people-teams already focussing on the Scotts (identified as "mostly atheist"), the Welsh and other people of the British Isles.

The people of mainland Europe are not safe from missionary advances either, as Joshua Project's satellite site Tell Europe has identified many western European countries and their populations - from the Dutch in the north to Catholic Italy in the south - as unsaved souls ready to be harvested.

Anti-gay undertakings

Fundamentalist, evangelical Christians have set up "reprogramming" camps, where they attempt to turn gay people straight, in keeping with Christian thinking that homosexuality is a choice and that all they need is to be "straightened out"

In the UK, the Scottish Catholic Truth:

says it will name and shame homosexual clergy as part of its "heavenly witness protection programme".

Implying that gay people have anything more to do with paedophilia than the average straight person is preposterous. These Catholics are conveniently ignoring facts like pious priests preying on nuns in 23 countries around the world as well as the many devout clergymen who abuse little girls.
Besides, paedophilia (as well as rape, and other abuse) has been a problem in Christianity throughout its devastating history, as several books on this particular topic have documented.

The Americas: Canada

Genocide of the Native Canadians by all the Churches of Canada - including Roman Catholic, Anglican, Presbyterian and the United Church of Canada:

Recently, the International Human Rights Association of American Minorities has issued a report which documents the involvement of mainline churches and the federal government in the murder of over 50,000 Native children through the Canadian residential school system. [Link]

The Canadian government has apologised for:

more than 80 of the church-run, government-funded schools operated for nearly a century, beginning in the 1880's. Investigations have revealed numerous incidents of rapes, beatings, suicides, suspicious deaths and humiliating punishments. [Link]

Africa: Rwanda

Christian Churches and Genocide in Rwanda - a paper by T. Longman for the Conference on Genocide, Religion, and Modernity, describes how the introduction of Christianity in Rwanda was entirely responsible for the construction of ethnicity and the resulting genocide there.
The pious Christian missionaries wrote imaginary, racist, false histories for the population, based on Biblical myths:

missionaries were instrumental in creating cultural identities through their specification of "custom" and "tradition" and by writing "tribal" histories

missionaries "incorporated into the curricula of their mission schools the lesson that the pupils had clear ethnic identities," and claims that they "educated local Africans who then themselves served as the most important force in shaping the new ethnic ideologies."

the actions of missionaries helped to create the deep social divisions that are at the root of ethnic conflict in many African countries

In Rwanda, missionaries played a primary role in creating ethnic myths and interpreting Rwandan social organization -- not only for colonial administrators, but ultimately for the Rwandan population itself.

The exact meaning of the categories of Hutu, Tutsi, and Twa in pre-colonial Rwanda, Burundi, and Zaire is a subject of considerable debate among scholars. Nearly all scholars, however, agree that the three were not clearly distinct and rigidly separated ethnic groups.

To the missionaries, the Tutsi seemed tall and elegant, with refined features and light skin, in some ways closer in appearance to Europeans than to their short, stocky, dark Hutu compatriots.

As elsewhere in Africa, in order to convert the population in Rwanda, the missionaries considered it important to understand the indigenous culture and social structures,

and the interpretations that came from their study of the culture greatly influenced both the colonial administration and, subsequently, Rwandan self-perceptions.

the missionaries, ignoring important divisions within each of the groups, viewed Hutu, Tutsi, and Twa as three distinct peoples representing three separate waves of immigration.
...the missionaries hypothesized that the Tutsi were not really African but a Hamitic or Semitic group from the Middle East, perhaps a lost tribe of Israel.

Having become the colonial pets, the Tutsis understandably became unpopular and so:

The new "progressive" missionaries who championed the cause of the Hutu in the 1950s promoted an ideology of exploitation that identified the Tutsi as the culprits in Rwandan history while ignoring exploitation by the German and Belgian colonial rulers.

The inaccurate idea promulgated by the missionaries that Tutsi had grossly exploited the Hutu for centuries continues to shape Hutu understandings of Rwandan history and eventually became a primary ideological justification for genocide.

Facts

Besides inventing ethnicities and then creating false histories of exploitation, Christianity is also directly implicated in the genocide. Rwandan Christian priests participated in the massacres of members of their own congregation, reminiscent of how German Churches ratted out Christian members with Jewish ancestry:

Odd denials of involvement were printed in Catholic church journals, before even anybody had openly accused members of the church.
Then, 10/10/96, in the newscast of S2 Aktuell, Germany - a station not at all critical to Christianity - the following was stated:

"Anglican as well as Catholic priests and nuns are suspect of having actively participated in murders. ... According to eyewitnesses clergymen gave away hiding Tutsis and turned them over to the machetes of the Hutu militia."

Australia: Australian Aboriginals

Fact

Christian conversion technique: Churches and Christians stole Aboriginal children from their families to indoctrinate them into Christianity.

On spreading to Australia, the Salvation Army claimed the country's indigenous people as

its spiritual property.
The Salvation Army ran missions to Christianise aborigines and helped steal indigenous children from their parents so they could be placed in the homes of god-fearing white Christians...

Pope John Paul apologized to the indigenous peoples of Australia, New Zealand and the Pacific islands for injustices perpetrated by Catholic missionaries. [a little late for that] ... "The church expresses deep regret and asks forgiveness where her children have been or still are party to these wrongs," John Paul wrote.
The pontiff's message was not well-received by all Australian Aborigines. [understandably]
Ryan-Japarta said Christian churches played a crucial role in implementing the assimilation policies of Australian state and federal governments.

Asia: Vietnam in the 50s

From the book The Vatican's Holocaust, by former BBC commentator Avro Manhattan:

The Vietnamese tragedy was precipitated by a zealous Catholic trio formed by a Catholic President, a Catholic Head of the Secret Police, and a Catholic Archbishop. All were determined to impose the religious and political writ of the Church upon a non-Christian culture.

In the case of President Diem and his Catholic junta [in the mid 20th century] they established themselves and their authority first with gradual legal discrimination against the Buddhist majority. The unrestricted use of terror followed when the Buddhist population refused to submit. Diem's approach was not just a freak example of contemporary Catholic aggressiveness in a largely non-Christian society. It has been repeated on the Asian continent for three hundred years.

How did it happen, particularly in view of the fact that South Vietnam was an Asian Buddhist land?

The self-immolation of [Buddhist monk] Thich Quang Duc was the culmination of an increasingly virulent discriminatory campaign against Buddhism by a Roman Catholic Premier, President Ngo Dinh Diem, of South Vietnam. ... Christian conversion technique: torture the non-Christian populace into conversion

In Hue, meanwhile, when another demonstration of Buddhists paraded the city, troops dispersed them, using tear gas bombs. Result: sixty-seven people were taken to hospital with chemical burns.

Present-day genocide

Think that's all in the past and that Christian missionaries and their converts have changed? No, because Christianity will not change.

[Genocide convention:] Article II
In the present Convention, genocide means any of the following acts committed with the intent to destroy, in whole or in part, a national, ethnical, racial, or religious group, as such:

1. Killing members of the group;
2. Causing serious bodily or mental harm to members of the group;
3. Deliberately inflicting on the group conditions of life calculated to bring its physical destruction in whole or in part;
4. Imposing measures intended to prevent births within the group;
5. Forcibly transferring children of the group to another group.

Missionaries have done all of the above, and continue to do most of these things even today (supported with your money, donations, and taxes).

Americas

Tried and true Christian conversion technique: round up unconverted pagans in camps and then convert or kill.
This is what the early Christians did to the Hellenes (ancient Greeks). It worked then to exterminate pre-Christian religions, so the Christian missionaries are certain it will work now.

The New Tribes Mission (NTM): Abuse, genocide and round-ups (called manhunts) of indigenous people who are unwilling to convert:

Sporadic stories of abuse from the NTM have been emerging for years, despite the fact that most of their activities take place well hidden from outside scrutiny. Many stories have come from the rainforests of South America where the missionaries found that the only ways to convert nomadic communities was to force them into camps, or reservations, driving out into the forest to roundup those who do not come. Multinational corporations and faith-based initiatives fund these pious Christian missionaries in spreading God's Word, getting something in return:

The controversial group [NTM] has been accused of prospecting for strategic minerals on behalf of transnational corporations and of the forced acculturation and conversion of indigenous people.[Link]

Africa

Christian conversion technique: if conversion fails, kidnap heathen children and force them into prostition or put them in schools where they are abused.

From Hadzabe: East Africa's Last Hunting and Gathering Tribe

Case 1: Enslaved Prostitution
Through the intermediaries - European priests and "sisters" - ... many women have been tricked into prostitution

Case 2: Enforced Schooling
There have been times when the military has searched for Hadzabe children hiding in the bush to escape the duty of being schooled. Hadzabe girls often complain about being raped by the teachers in the Endamaga school. This happens even with the Hadzabe mothers. Later the Hadzabe girls are compelled into prostitution.

Case 3: Bad Religion
Many times white parsons tried to baptise the Hadzabe and to destroy their traditional beliefs and lifestyle.

Faith-based US initiatives promoting abstinence only programs

Which then kill Africans in the long run.

Uganda is very nearly a Christian theocracy, where militant Christian terrorist armies like the Lord's Resistance Army (LRA) and Uganda Democratic Christian Army (UDCA) go around killing people.

...The U.S. government has already budgeted approximately U.S. $8 million this year on abstinence-only programs in Uganda as part of President George W. Bush's global AIDS plan. The National Youth Forum, headed by Ugandan First Lady Janet Museveni, a vocal proponent of abstinence-only, has received U.S. funding under the plan. The First Lady has lashed out against groups that teach young people about condoms and called for a national "virgin census" to support her abstinence agenda.

Fact

Christian conversion technique: hypocritically impose an abstinence-only program on a nation, restricting condom imports when there's no cure for AIDS. Those not repressed enough to abstain are obviously not "Christian enough", and will have more chance to contract AIDS and die. And voila, heretic Christian population killed off.

Meanwhile, hypocritical Christian clergy in the west continue to indulge in affairs with married women and abuse children.
There's also the recent case in Italy of a nun who tried to kill her lover - a 70-year old priest - when she caught him in bed with a married woman. The nun, who set fire to the house he was in, had also come running with a machete to do him in and had to be restrained.

Asia

Depending on the target population and country, missionaries have developed specific strategies to convert the various pre-Christian peoples of Asia.
Besides outright genocide, terrorism, cultural genocide through acculturation, imitating/stealing local traditions and passing them off as Christian through inculturation, Christian missionaries and their converts have started exploring additional avenues open to them:

Throughout Asia, the latest conversion method is through "native missionaries", as they are condescendingly called. They look local, so they are not immediately sent packing, but act as intolerant as Christians have done throughout the history of Christianity.
These converts go about telling people why their former religion was terribly evil and how the mythical Christ saved them and they are now all "moral".

Sometimes they start talking about a "personal relationship" with Christ - a concept entirely recent in Christianity, which actually derives from pre-Christian religions (Shintoism, Hellenismos, Asatru, African religion and others) where adherents used to choose one of their deities whom they felt closest to as their personal God, friend and helper.

Globalisation is another option evangelicals and their organisations have pounced on. It is also endorsed by the Pope and the Greek archbishop who hope it will become

"a globalisation of brotherhood in Christ".

Missionaries are active in starting up businesses under the guise of improving economies, while (as always) they aim for the destruction of the pre-Christian religious cultures in Asia:

These businesses form a movement known variously as business as mission, kingdom business and great commission companies, after the biblical charge to "make disciples of all the nations."

Missionaries with no business experience opened travel agencies, Internet cafes and other small companies, sometimes accused of being little more than fronts for proselytizing.

"mission-minded businesspeople can do things that traditional missionaries cannot" - like using false pretences to sneak into countries where proselytising is not allowed, as is happening in many Asian Buddhist countries today.
Yesterday's missionaries brought Christian misery with colonisation which impoverished much of what then became known as the Third World. Today's missionaries, their countries having become rich because of the colonisation, bring the same under the new name of globalisation. (Some missions also exploit indigenous peoples, alongside their genocide/missionary work, by prospecting for minerals for multi-national companies.) In effect, missionaries today are using the wealth stolen during the colonial era to bribe or blackmail (and worse) the unconverted, impoverished peoples into conversion. Christian charity.

Akha

Missionaries are using the age-old Christian convert-or-kill method on this hill tribe in Thailand, Laos and Burma:

AusAid (Australia) is funding a Missionary Project to kidnap Akha children from their families and force them into mission schools, where:

Christian charity: missions feel that only they should "help" the Akha, because non-religious help will not result in conversions.

The mission operators of these missions are Chinese, Taiwanese Chinese and American Citizens. All these missions, as with most missions in Thailand, are supported by donations from American Evangelical missions organizations and church members.

West Papua

West Papuans still holding to their indigenous beliefs want an end to terrorist religions trying to convert them. In their own words:

NGOs, though their name makes them appear harmless, usually tend to be Christian "charity" organisations, bent on missionary (genocide) work.

The Batak of Palawan

Christian concentration camps again and the eternal terrorism from Christianity - exactly what the Christians did to the ancient Greeks and Romans:

All Batak are forced to be concentrated in camps, to go to church and to send their children to religious or state schools.
...Only a core group of traditional Batak still resists this terror. Since last year, all the Batak have been under heavy terror from several aggressive missionaries.

The Bihs, a Vietnamese tribe

Mr Jones, a missionary, desecrated their ancestors' tombs:

... Mr. Jones went personally to the trees, pulled down all the coffins on the trees and threw the contents, be they bones or decomposing corpses, into a common grave.
The Bihs were then converted. Convinced that their ancestors have deserted them due to the desecration of their burial customs, the Bihs stopped producing offsprings. One local Bih explained that his people had resigned themselves to extinction.

Buddhism under Siege in Korea 1982-1996 and Chronology of Events January 1997-December 1998, detail how Christianity, through its missionaries and their Korean converts, was systematically destroying Buddhism and indigenous Korean religions from 1982 to 1998. (This destruction continues today.)

Some of the events in this timeframe:
1984 May. Invited by the Korean Catholic Church, the Pope on his visit declared the beatification of Saints for Korea - purposefully setting it on Buddha's birthday, utterly disrupting celebrations of this major Korean occasion.

This event happens to fall during the annual national Buddha's Birthday holiday celebrations. Because it is the first ever visit of a Roman pontiff to South Korea, and because the Vatican announces that 93 Koreans and 10 French missionary martyrs will be beatified as saints during the visit, the visit becomes a major national event. It is the first time that a canonization ceremony is held outside of Rome and the largest number ever canonized at one time. This ceremony gives Korea the fourth largest number of Catholic saints in the world. When the Pope tours the country, in the days immediately preceding and during Buddha's Birthday, there are immense traffic jams which diminish attendance at Buddhist events in several key cities. Buddhist leaders protest the timing of the event as "disrespectful" [Link]

The Protestants however were much worse, imitating the Catholic-Vatican dictatorship of '50s Vietnam in their methods of cultural genocide:

Systematic destruction, arson, mutilation and other vandalism of Buddhist and other pre-Christian shrines, statues and sacred artefacts

A Christian government which starts legislating against the native religions. Many officers in the army and police are Christian. These officers start articulating their intentions against the native religions.

Insincere "apologies" were sometimes offered after attacks and insults when the perpetrators were caught, but the persecutions continue. No apologies forthcoming for anonymous cases of large-scale Christian vandalism of ancient Korean religious national treasures. Christian police purposefully protect vandals and let them off the hook.

Christian teachers forcing their non-Christian students to recite Christian prayers

Regularly, Christians would appear in public, pretending to have been Buddhist monks (with no evidence that they were) denouncing Buddhism

A few of the many documented Christian attacks on Buddhism in Korea:

1985 September. An individual by the name of Kim Sônghwa organizes a series of mass gatherings to denounce Buddhism in the cities of Pusan, Taegu, Kwangju, and Taejon. (This individual and his wife Kim Mija regularly advertise their mission to convert the "25 million Buddhists of Korea" in the Christian Newspaper Kitokkyo Shinmun, July 1996).

1989 April. Five to six individuals destroy a Buddha statue and paint red crucifixes on a large outdoor Ma-ae Buddha figure carved into the rock on Samgaksan Mountain on the outskirts of Seoul. In all, some 10 temples are severely damaged or desecrated in the days immediately before and after the national Buddha's Birthday holidays.

1993 February. Colonel (battalion commander) Cho Pyôngshik of the 17th Tank Battalion, claiming a lack of warehouse space, has the Dharma Hall on his base dismantled. The gilded statue of the Buddha is taken from the Hall, burned, and openly discarded behind the mountain. Taejon. The event makes national news.

1996 - The Wônmi ward office of Puch'on city near Seoul sends official letters to several Buddhist kindergartens, primary schools, and other Buddhist organizations and temples. Language in the letters beseeches them to find "the peace of God and the comfort of Jesus Christ".

1996 - The swastika - for centuries a symbol of good fortune throughout Asia, and also a Buddhist symbol of the same - is replaced on many flagpoles in Seoul with crucifixes.

1996 May 12. Arsonists attack the main Buddha statue in the Taejôkkwangjôn at Hwagyesa Temple in Seoul for the second time. The fire is quickly extinguished by a passing monk. At the time, more than 30 police and army are patrolling the temple in plainclothes in broad daylight, but fail to apprehend the assailant. (2nd attack on Hwagyesa)

1996 May 14. Two days later, again with over 30 police and military patrolling the temple, a massive fire is set beneath the main Buddha statue in the Taejôkkwangjôn at Hwagyesa Temple in Seoul for the third time. Superb altar paintings, ornate woodcarvings and traditional wall paintings are lost. Damage estimated at about $775,000 according to the police. (3rd attack, 1 building seriously damaged).

February 16, 1998. Marine Corps Commandant Tobong Chon says that he would make the Marine Corps soldiers of Christ at a ground-breaking ceremony of a church for the Second Division of the Marine Corps. Buddhists made a strong protest against the incident.

1998. The government revokes its intention to engrave a dragon image on the handle of National Seal due to a strong protest by Korean Christians. Christians assert the "animal symbolizes Satan" and should not be used in an image representing our nation.

June 26, 1998. Su-jin Kim, a Christian, breaks into Wonmyong Sonwon (Zen Center) in Cheju Island, decapitates 750 granite Buddha statues and destroys a gilt bronze Buddha triad, gold-plated jade Buddha and many other Buddhist items. He is caught by people at the temple while breaking windows of the living quarters. Kim confesses at the police that he destroyed Buddha statues in order to convert the temple to a church.

Shocking images of Christian vandalism, destruction and desecration of Korea's ancient Buddhist artefacts. You'd not be wrong for mistaking pious Christians for the Taliban. Nothing has changed since the systematic Christian destruction of the ancient Greek and Roman civilisations.

Sainthood for criminals to distort the history of Christianity in China. (More have been canonised in China now than in Korea even, which had already broken the record for the maximum number sainted in one go.) It would also serve to replace all the 1st and 2nd century "Saints" now declared non-existent.

Nothing new in Saints and Martyrs being villains - criminals, rapists, terrorists and smugglers in China's case.
True Colors of "Saints" Exposed - People's Daily Online (mentioned in the CNN article above), lists some of the many newly sainted who have been exposed, including:

Auguste Chapdelaine (1814-1856): Chapdelaine defied the ancient Chinese custom of worshipping deceased ancestors and ordered all his followers to stop such practices and forbade them to marry their children to nobody other than Catholic adherents, which led to many family and clan feuds.
... He even resorted to using local bandits to expand his "evangelical influences." He bribed local officials so that the bandits would not be punished.
... When church followers married, he held mass for them and many times he raped the brides, according to archives that quoted local people in Xilin.

Albericus Crescitelli (1863-1900): No one could escape from being raped by this "saint." The wives of local Catholics Pan Changfu, Zheng Ganren and Yang Hai had all been raped by the missionary before marriage.

He brought Christian habits over to China, where he became:

notorious for taking the "right to the first night" of each bride under his diocese. [Link]

Franciscus de Capillas (1607-1648): had a penchant for converting young women and caused domestic instability and divorces.
... It was also known that he broke the Catholic rule of celibacy and committed adultery with a widow who later gave birth to a girl. [Link]

...the smuggling activities of "Saint" Franciscus Fogolla. He collected many "gifts" when he was in Taiyuan of Shanxi province, mostly bronze sculptures and silver utensils, and brought 40 boxes of precious Chinese antiques to Italy. [Link]

Some of the intolerant Chinese converts honoured with sainthood:

Ioannes Baptista Luo Ting-Yin ... was known for beating a group of children in front of a church, because he thought that their happy folk songs were an insult to God.

Augustinus Zhao Rung ... known in China for launching verbal attacks against Buddhism and Daoism.

Petrus Wu Guo-Sheng ... was hated in that area for forcing people to go to church by relying on foreigners with influence there. Even a 3-year old child, let alone others, who passed his gate, would be forced to go to his home to recite verses from the Bible.

With the promise of providing their children an education, a Catholic priest from the neighboring district of Nagaland reportedly charged parents 10,000 rupees per child. ... [The parents] were shocked to discover that the children were not enrolled at St. Emmanuel's. In fact, they were not in any school at all--they had been placed in an orphanage.

Both Rome and its Protestant competitors have been particularly aggressive in efforts to convert the tribals. ... induce tribal mothers to relinquish baby girls shortly after birth. The government is led by a Christian:

Sonia Gandhi ... surrounded herself, as soon as she became Congress party leader, with a clique consisting only of Christians -- eg. Vincent George, Tom Thomas, Tommy Thomas, Margaret Alva, Ajit Jogi, Purno Sangma. [Link]

With such a Christian government, conversions have been given increased support. Some provinces, where the population is mainly Hindu, are also governed by Christians. Predictably these find reasons to destroy pre-Christian shrines for "official" reasons.

Grabbing land in this non-Christian country:

The Christian churches are the largest landowners in India after the government. Much of this land is alienated temple land that was given to them by the British in the 19th century. They also own large amounts of prize commercial property in the cities.
...American churches like Pentecostals and Evangelicals ... simply grab land in the towns and districts by painting crosses and Christian slogans on stones and hillsides and then claiming the property as their own.
...Christians claim whole villages and put up signboards that say "Non-Christians Not Allowed" at their entrances. [Link]

Project Thessalonica is a sub-project of Joshua Project II ... aims to stop or limit Hindu activity by converting people who form the pillars of Hindu culture, festivals, traditions and activity.
Missions want to ensure that no new temple construction activity starts. With this objective they are converting masons, craftsmen and others involved in temple construction activity.

Over the past 20 years, missionaries also appear to have invested a lot in handling the political leadership...
It seems that a good section of media is also on their side to such an extent that any group opposing their activity finds itself identified as a militant or extremist group in the news media. [Link]

pamphlets, by the Christian group "The sword of the lord", from Tennessee USA printed in Singhalese and Tamil and English. The pamphlet claimed that the people would be better off, if they would give up Buddha, who is constantly alliterated as a reincarnation of the Satan himself.

The monk said the Christian group who was in charge of these camps to do "humanitarian work" complained to the police about his presence and the way he publicly defended Buddha in his preaching in the Camps. - the Sri Lankan Police in return warned him and now he is no longer allowed to visit those camps due to an order.
Strange world, isn’t it?.

It seemed to me that Sri Lankan Human Rights organizations and foreign Conflict Management Organization who cry loud in regular intervals of human rights violations and fundamental right abuses seems to be deaf, dumb, dead silent – and most certainly - absolutely inactive on this issue.

[Evangelical groups] paid men to don the yellow robe and misbehave in society to create a rift between the Buddhist temples and the Buddhists by getting these "fake Buddhist monks" to go and purchase liquor from the liquor bars, to go into meat stalls and super markets and purchase meat and fish for everyone to see, to go into restaurants after 12 noon and order food and partake of it, to be seen by others etc;

they used young couples to go into village temples in the night requesting shelter from the temple monk (on the excuse that they were travelling far) and in a short while the male would leave the female alone in the temple, and go out- within minutes, the girl would ring the temple bell and inform the villagers that the monk had tried to molest her (the purpose is to bring disrepute to innocent monks)

Fact

The Tamil terrorists (LTTE) is fully backed by the Catholic/Christian churches and is no secret. When they attacked religious places of worship, only Hindu and Buddhist places were attacked- not Catholic/Christian churches! [Link]

This is only logical, as the highest leaders of the terrorist LTTE organisation are Christians, including:

• Prabhakaran, the man in charge of the LTTE
• Anton Balasingham

Some of the leading Christian priests have acted as front men for the LTTE in Western countries. Fr. S. J. Emmanuel, former Vicar—General of Jaffna, who is now residing in Germany, is a prime example of the Church joining hands with the LTTE. [Link]

The Sri Lankan government proposed a Bill against unethical conversions. The Christians, Churches and missionary organisations working in Sri Lanka, cried "persecution" and lobbied the UN to intervene. The UN special reporter denied that coercive and other unethical conversions were taking place among the practitioners of Sri Lanka's indigenous religions:

I, too, was astonished - to say the least - on the remarks in the conclusions of the United Nation's Special Rapporteur, Mrs. Asma Jehangir and her denial that there was 'no concrete proof' of anyone being forced or coerced into giving up their ancestral religion.

My colleague Lalith Ganhewa, also a journalist and I had clearly stated in front of the commission that people we had talked to were being coerced and mentally being forced to change their native religion.

Then, the UN report described how this bill proved that religious intolerance in Sri Lanka had increased and talked about how Churches were being destroyed in Sri Lanka. What the report didn't say was that

Attacks on Christian Churches are Self-Inflicted
During the last few days there were reports of attacks on several Christian Churches by unidentified persons. In one recent case the Minister of Christian Affairs and the former Interior Minister himself accused the Evangelical Christian missions as the perpetrators of the crime. There are also reported events where the Evangelists themselves setting fire to their well guarded but ramshackle and illegal structures with the hope of building better structures – in the end with the full compliance from the Christian government in power.

Of course, such self-inflicted attacks on Churches were easy to blame on the indigenous religions of Sri Lanka and in this manner get the UN to condemn their adherents. As is to be expected, the anti-conversion bill was dropped.

Missionaries are once again taking advantage of communist rule as well as the absence of the exiled Dalai Lama to deculturise and evangelise among the disoriented, leaderless Tibetan population. "Education" is yet again used as a cover, where schools are expressly set up to convert the local children to get them while they are young and vulnerable. Businesses are another avenue of conversion.

Nepal:
A huge number of missionary groups are operating in this land, though the laws forbid proselytisation, and have been engaged in deculturising the country through various means.

Once again, unethical methods are used to proselytise amongst the pre-Christian populations in these lands. Since these nations are relatively well-off to quite prosperous, Christians have identified other vulnerable targets, instead of the usual poor. They have chosen to prey on people suffering from chronic illnesses. In other words, sick-bed conversions. Find out how Christians, missionaries and their Churches rake in the money and converts.

Cambodia:
Where the government had to recently ban proselytisation since the non-Christian population complained about the perenially annoying door-to-door Christian missionaries harassing them.

Vietnam:
The US government has discussed "religious freedom in Vietnam" as well as:

political rights of citizens, including those on freedom in establishing non-governmental organizations [NGOs] [Link]

It should be noted that key leaders in the International Committee for Religious Freedoms, like Richard Land and Robert Seiple, are Baptists. So in reality, this organisation is nothing more than a Christian lobby group mainly looking out for Christian religious freedom. And NGOs are merely covers for Christian "charity" organisations which use their status as NGOs to bypass many governmental restrictions on proselytising. Basically, the evangelical Bush government wants Vietnam to open up to the deculturisation that's attacking and destroying the fabric of other non-Christian nations.
